Right oh, lets get right into the thick of it.

I recently bought a PS2 (see my thread regarding it) for the expressed purpose of being A. A DVD player because I swear to god consoles are much better at that than ACTUAL DVD players, and B. To play the Silent Hill Games.

Towmorrow I'll be heading out with my father (I only see him once every two weeks and we go game shopping because he's also a massive nerd) to the pre-owned game shop CEX which has a mind-boggling selection to choose from. Any suggestions on what I should pick up?

Currently I have Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2. I also am a fan of horror/rpgs more than anything else.

If you can find it, Rule of Rose. Copies do exist in PAL but I've never, ever seen one in a store, only online.

Ummm going on what I can see of my ps2 collection and not obvious choices:

Haunting Ground
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus (highly recommended)
Any of the Legacy of Kain games (with the exception of Blood Omen 2, which was mediocre compared to the others: Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance)

Damn fine memory you have there Rosseter.

Also, while a lot of the suggestions seem fairly good...Final Fantasy X? Really? That game is terrible.

Oh, and unrelated

People seem to suggest a lot of the same things...

I could suggest Medal of Honor: Frontline, one of the best FPS games I've ever played.

-Contra: Shattered Soldier (side-scrolling shooter, makes a man out of you)
-R-Type Final (Space shooter that is ridiculously unforgiving, but also beautiful)
-War of the Monsters (one of the few decent third-person fighting games)
-Twisted Metal: Black (Amazing, but also unforgiving, car combat title)
-Ratchet & Clank series (first game was a great platformer, the rest are great combinations of platforming and action shooting)
-Frequency and/or Amplitude (fantastic rhythm games)
